The 33rd Edition of the University of Buea’s matriculation ceremony got underway with some over 12,000 newly admitted students in attendance, participating in the university’s rites of passage ritual that will see them fully introduced and immersed into the University of Buea’s school books and records. This event marked new beginnings for the students and an official introduction to the University of Buea’s administration, culture, and student life on campus. An event, graced by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Directors, Deans of Faculties, alongside all other university’s administration, the UB matriculation is considered as one of the most important rites or rituals, every student who identifies themselves as a product of the university must participate in, throughout their entire stay at the university.
The students, seated excitedly and enthusiastically at the Professor Dorothy Njeuma Open Air Amphitheater burst into light as the events unfolded with the opening remarks from the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, Professor Ngomo Horace Manga, who congratulated the newly admitted students into the prestigious institution, urging them to remain focused, goal driven, and optimize the use of digital technologies in their everyday learning. Reiterating on the functionality, accessibility, and availability of the university’s digital spaces and platforms, to support students’ integration and learning while at the university.
The ceremony highlighted the institution’s culture and the need for students to adhere to the rules and regulations of the university, alongside the importance of them to fully engage in the school’s activities as part of benefiting from the exciting and fulfilling school-life culture the University of Buea bestows on its students.
